New series of large scale original art
I am very excited by all the preparation work I am doing for some new exhibitions and art galleries that I am planning for 2010. I have just taken on more stuido space here in yorkshire so that I have the room to work on such a huge scale canvas. My sketch books are rapidly filling up with my ideas and thoughts for this new series that will include around 10-15 giant scale artworks each measuring somewhere in the region of 3 to 2 metres. My studio walls are currently plastered with images to inspire me...
Art or furniture?
Like many people, the environment is on my mind and I have been thinking a lot of about how I can do my bit and create affordable artwork.
I started out by stripping down some old solid wood furntiure that was ready for the dump. By applying the same texture style and glazing technique that I use to create my zbstract art, an old table or chest was transformed into modern art that didn't only look great, its practical too.
I was given this old table by one of my clients whose instructions were; 'do your magic with it.' I created the painting on canvas and bedroom screen to complete the set.

I am naturally drawn to strong colour and form and particularly inspired by Coral reefs and their fantastical patterns and textures. I introduce washes and interference medium
to my work to allow a layer of subtly to move in and around the canvas, creating surrealistic and abstract pieces.
